Lifeguards are expected to have good physical fitness and mental preparedness for the job of being a lifeguard. This is why it is important that lifeguards are certified by attending lifeguard training classes.
The lifeguard certification that you receive from American Lifeguard Association is valid for two years. After two years, you will need to retake the lifeguard certification class in order to maintain your lifeguard status.
