Speciality Valve is one of the top Ball Valve Manufacturers in India. Supplying highquality products to industrial markets worldwide.

This valve has a round shaped element, typically a ball with hole in center. When valve is open, the hole aligns with the flow direction, allowing fluid to pass through. Rotating the ball so the hole becomes perpendicular to the flow path closes the valve, effectively stopping the fluid flow.

What is ball valve used for?

The ball valve is commonly used in different industries because of its durability, humanized operation, and tight shutoff. These are generally control of on/off only and are applied to applications where rapid and positive shutoff are critical.

When would you use a ball valve?

  • Industrial Applications
  • Oil and Gas industry
  • Chemical Processing: Safely transfer corrosive hazardous fluid
  • Power Plants Steam (highpressure steam, cooling water systems)
  • Water and Wastewater Systems
  • Used in municipal water supply systems for isolation and shutoff.
  • Control flow of sewerage treatment plant.
  • Fuel and coolant management in

They are primarily designed for on/off control and are suitable for applications where quick and reliable shutoff is essential.

Where would you use a ball valve?

Common Uses of Ball Valves

  1. Industrial Applications
  • Oil and Gas: Control flow of oil, gas, and other hydrocarbons in pipelines.
  • Chemical Processing: Handle corrosive and hazardous fluids safely.
  • Power Plants: Manage highpressure steam and cooling water systems.
  1. Water and Wastewater Systems
  • Used in municipal water supply systems for isolation and shutoff.
  • Control flow in wastewater treatment facilities.
  1. Marine and Automotive Industries
  • Manage fuel, coolant, and hydraulic systems in ships and vehicles.

What are the Advantages of Ball Valves?

  • Quick quarterturn operation for fast shutoff.
  • Minimal pressure drops in the fully open position.
  • Excellent sealing capabilities for leak prevention.
  • Suitable for highpressure and hightemperature environments.

Ball valves are not ideal for precise flow control (throttling) but excel in applications requiring durability, reliability, and minimal maintenance

As a trusted supplier, Speciality Valve is the largest Ball Valve Manufacturers in India, They ensures excellent sealing performance, strong throttling capabilities, and longlasting durability in their Ball valves.

The difference is between ball valve and plug valve?

Purpose: Plug Valve vs Ball Valve

Both plug and ball valves are known for their robust construction and straightforward design, making them ideal for various piping systems.

Plug Valves

Feature a fullport design that allows unrestricted flow, making them suitable for slurries such as mud and sewage.

boro bubbletight shutoff for liquids, gases and vapors.

Heat shrink systems that have been specifically developed for the protection of cable joins.

Available in a wide range of materials, known for reliability in applications requiring fast, secure shutoff, massively corrosive environments, etc.

Ball Valves

  • Give bubble tight shutoff for gas, air, vapor, and hydrocarbons.
  • Commonly used in highpressure and hightemperature systems, including gas lines, oil refineries, and tank farms.
  • Suitable for automated processes and underground or subsea systems with highpressure ratings.

Both valves excel in ensuring tight shutoff but are chosen based on specific application needs, such as handling slurries, high pressure, or sanitary conditions.

What is the difference between Ball and Regular valve?

The main distinction between a ball valve and a regular valve lies in their internal mechanisms and how they manage the flow of fluid or gas.

Internal Mechanism:

  • Ball Valve: The ball valve comprises a rotating sphere, usually called the ball, containing an hole that passes through the center of it. The hole points the direction of the flow and so allows fluid or gas passage when the valve is opened. In this case, a 90degree rotation locks the hole against the direction of the flow.
  • Regular Valve (Gate, Globe, or Butterfly Valve): Different mechanisms are applied to ordinary valves such as gate, globe, or butterfly valves. Gate valves are used which incorporate a gate or wedge, and they move vertically for allowing or blocking flow. Globe valves make use of a disc, and this disc moves perpendicular to the flow to regulate the rate of flow. Butterfly valves incorporate a disc that is turned 90 degrees to regulate flow.

Operation and Flow Control:

  • Ball Valve The ball valves are used in on/off flow control. They provide an effective seal when closed, which reduces leakage. They open and close quickly and are very suited for applications such as in rapid action or high flowing rates.
  • Regular Valve: Standard valves, including gate, globe, or butterfly valves, can control both on/off flow and throttling. They typically operate more slowly than ball valves but offer finer control for throttling.

Application and Use:

  • Ball Valve: Ball valves are commonly used in applications that require a quick and reliable shutoff, such as water supply systems, oil and gas pipelines, and industrial processes.
  • Regular Valve: Regular valve has different applications based on their type:
    • Gate Valves: Ideal for applications requiring straightline flow with minimal restriction, like pipelines.
    • Globe Valves: Suitable for applications that need precise flow control or throttling.
    • Butterfly Valves: Used in largescale applications where quick operation and lowpressure drop are important.
